Amaris Chew

Amaris N. Chew has been in the educational arena for five years. She is excited to be joining us! This will be her first year joining the proud, AZ dragons where she will be instructing ELA II, ELA IV, Civics and Geography. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science from the University of the Virgin Islands and is currently working on her Masters of Public Administration.

Her education tenure began at IQRA Academy where she taught Physical Education to girls K-12. She then went on  to her alma mater, the St. Croix Educational Complex, in 2010 where she was the substitute for the Social Studies Department filling in for subjects such as Caribbean History, U.S. History, V.I. History and, sometimes, Spanish. She was also the assistant soccer coach during this time. In 2012, she began a three year stint with the Arthur A. Richards Junior High School where she was an acting teacher in P.E for her first year, Math and English her second year and Social Studies and English her third year. At Arthur Richards, Ms. Chew was the soccer coach, majorette coach, cheerleading assistant coach, softball assistant coach and co-chair of the pageant committee.

Ms. Chew loves teaching and engaging kids and in the workforce it has been her one true passion. She enjoys entertainment and performing and most recently has been a thespian in the CCT theaters, 2015-2016 Miss Black Virgin Islands USA and completed a summer internship with Turner Broadcasting Company Content Distribution. Ms. Chew is also very much involved in sports including being a 13 year veteran member of the Virgin Islands Women’s National Soccer Team, three years as the founding president of St. Croix Continues Women’s Softball League in Whim and volunteering as a coach throughout the community.
